After spending time at Occupy Wall Street and observing the Occupy worldwide movement one thing has become clear to us – your voice is important and can shape the future! There are many ways that you can have your voice heard in this movement.
Here are some ways, although we encourage you to be as creative as possible:
- Have conversations with those around you, wherever you are about what it is important to you and our future.
- Look in the Occupy Together Directory and find an Occupation near you.
- Go to OccupyCafe – dedicated to expanding and connecting conversations around the U.S and the world.
- At Occupy Wall Street in Zuccotti Park there is a Think Tank Group table. They are usually open from 12-6pm to hear your thoughts, ideas and solutions. There is also a Vision and Goals Group that currently meets at on Mon, Wed and Fri at 5:30pm and on Thurs, Sat and Sun at 12pm at 60 Wall Street (The Atrium). There is a lot of media and passers-by at Occupy Wall Street so there are plenty of opportunities to have your voice heard and to engage in conversation. You can also join an Occupy Wall St Working Group or Thematic Group that is of interest to you, or start your own.

missing what I’d consider the most important perspective from a brilliant alternative economist – The Future of Money , by Bernard Lietaer . Also ought to have Tom Greco’s The End of Money and the Future of Civilization .
The system is broken, and there should be much more focus on creating the new alternatives that will rise from the ashes. The more we understand why and how the system is broken, the more likely we’ll be able to understand how to create the patterns for future systems that will have a better chance of functioning for the greatest number of the planet’s human and non-human inhabitants.
Future steps should include potential roadmaps for building Earth Communities.
I imagine our world being healed by the collective efforts of people who do not want to control or dominate it. I imagine our world with blue skies and diverse grass lands, forests, clean lakes and rivers. I imagine diverse communities of people cooperating to create prosperity for each other by growing food and making the things they need. I imagine less talk and more action. Camphill communities inspire me. I think Rudolf Steiner’s ideas in “Toward Social Renewal” can work.

Elevation of the “PUBLIC INTEREST” (…the “Commons/the 99%/etc.) COMPLETELY ABOVE AND BEYOND SELF-INTEREST should be paramount in LEADERS OF THE WORLD.
It’s a privilege to lead, and an enormous responsibility. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH INSTALLING A MARBLE/GOLD-PLATED TOILET IN YOUR OFFICE BATHROOM.
There are two phrases: “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it” and “Keep it simple …” First, we are broken in many ways, but not in all ways. Let’s not claim that we are a broken society when we have innovation all around us. Second, there are too many cooks in the kitchen and we need capable people in the right postiion to meet their skill set in resolving problems. This era is full of innovation. It is time to clean house. Not through any one political party or corporation, but through transdisciplinary teams of people who have the skill set to do so.
– No more giving $$$$ to corporations;
– No more partisian bickering; and
– Yes to flat tax

I’m a woman and frequently protest with Code Pink Women for Peace amongst a myriad of women’s organizations, and I just have to point out that singling women out as victims that need to be protected and provided with a Utopian Fantasy World of perfect safety, is not really in the spirit of the Occupy Movement anymore than violent anarchists causing a lot of the clashes with police.
I think it’s Vitally Important that We Stop fracturing off into Special Interest Social Activist Groups, and Instead Start focusing on What EVERYONE NEEDS to Happen and to Stop Happening, and how can we work together to make concrete strides to create That Reality, through one action at at time, times 10 million strong.
That Is The Power To Change The World.

And the Abuses of Power by Police ABSOLUTELY MUST END!!! Many of them are themselves suffering from PTSD and need to be in positions that keeps them away from probable violence, not throwing them into the middle with contradictory instructions.
I still can’t even begin to wrap my head around the “legality” of land claims by foreigners on lands which had existing indigenous people’s who did not have an existing concept of land ownership. “it’s mine because I say it is”?!? I can see absolutely no defensible reason for any property to be owned other than one’s primary residence, and nature preserves by non profits, except to accumulate wealth through the rape of the resources and the enslavement of locals, either directly or through forced forms of indentured servitude in exchange for merely enough for sustenance, from the wealthy landowners.
Believe it or not, I’m Not a Communist-we’ve seen that fail due to human nature, just as badly as our existing parasitic economic/government system, but I do wonder if the socialist nations in the EU would be having all of these economic problems, if it were Not for the unethical behavior of Wallstreet !?!

YES!! to everything you say. You say “Believe it or not, I’m Not a Communist…” I’m not a Communist either. In fact, I’m not any kind of an ..”-ist.” I don’t see the necessity of having to proclaim myself an advocate of any particular ideology.
I want to live in a world which has endured the ‘labor pains’ and given ‘birth to’ a culture where “LovingKindness” is THE HIGHEST VALUE. This type of “LovingKindess” has to begin with simple RESPECT and the application of the “ageless” GOLDEN RULE.
Mindwalk, a phenomenal mid 90s indie film starring Sam Waterston, Liv Ullman and John Heard, that I think you might want to add to your list. The film follows a philosophical discussion between a poet expat and his old college friend politician who has recently lost a US presidential bid, who meet a female physicist while touring a castle in the French marshlands and continue the discussion with Descartes, Interdependency and Systems Theory.

LET’S OCCUPY THE SHIFT TO SOLAR ENERGY (and other renewables) ALL OVER THE PLANET: A MAJOR PRIORITY. Every sane synapse in my brain says that IF the United States could put together and deploy the first atom bombs VERY RAPIDLY, just because the United States “wanted to” and “decided to prioritize their “bomb-creation effort” with **financial and **human-resources support** THEN The United States COULD find and deploy a MUCH FASTER PATH TO A SOLAR FUTURE than the path it is now on.
IT IS FRANKLY REMARKABLE WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED WHEN ALL THE PROPER RESOURCES FOR SUCCESS ARE PUT IN PLACE.
As long as the FUEL for production and transportation of food and other essentials of “maintaining life” are LINKED TO THE PRODUCTION OF OIL AND GAS — power is concentrated in those corporations or other entities (kingdoms, authoritarian governments and political affiliates [many corrupt]) WHICH ALREADY HAVE THE MEANS TO DRILL — deep into the beds of our oceans and deep into the crust of our Earth.
It has been said time and again that ‘SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCTION” will be a far less-centralized pursuit than oil/gas energy production. OF COURSE — those who have become accustomed to reaping massive profits from these enterprises are “loathe to let go” of the OIL/GAS PARADIGM. This includes INVESTORS/SHAREHOLDERS AND BOARDS OF DIRECTORS in huge oil and gas enterprises…….WHO COULD — SWITCH THEIR INVESTMENT PRACTICES — making a commitment from their hearts, and for their children and grandchildren, to RUNNING THE ENTERPRISES OF PLANET EARTH ON CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY.
BUT — a SOLAR/WIND/RENEWABLE-ENERGY FUTURE would do SO MUCH TO TURN THE EARTH TOWARD PEACE, AWAY FROM CONSTANT WARS.
